Psalms 91:1-2 (NIV)…
Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my GOD, in whom I trust.”
Both in literature and in movies, the use of a “shadow” is usually meant to draw attention to some sort of evil or darkness lurking in the background…but that’s NOT the case here. In this case, the author is using the word “shadow” in a similar way we would use the word “shade”…as in resting in the shade of a giant oak tree. The author is trying to draw attention as to WHERE you & I can find shelter when we see the evil or darkness threaten to overwhelm us. And that WHERE…that place…is in the shadow of the Almighty.
Friend, are you starting to feel a little overwhelmed this Christmas season? Are you finding yourself in need of just a little more REST? If so, then STOP what you are doing for just 5mins, and find the rest you are looking for in the shadow of the Almighty. Do this by just inviting the LORD to be with you at your home, at your workplace, or wherever you’re reading this right now. And be confident, that GOD will not only provide the rest you in need in His shadow…but He will also provide the strength & protection you will need to carry on as well…for GOD is a “refuge” and a “fortress” in whom you can trust.
Merry Christmas friend, and I hope to see you at “Lincoln Lights” this weekend–(Friday & Saturday), and remember to get your tickets for our upcoming Christmas Services as well…PEACE!
