Romans 8:28 (NLT)…
And we know that GOD causes everything to work together for the good of those who love GOD and are called to His purpose for them.
What do you do when the “you know what” hits the fan? I think it’s human and valid to respond to tragedy & heart-ache with sadness & discouragement. Things don’t always go the way we want them to go, and the reason for this is because…as wonderful as this world is…it’s not heaven. This world is not perfect…sin, death, & evil all exist here…and these not-so-cuddly-characters are often the cause of things NOT working out…the way we want them to work out. But friend, because of GOD…and because of this simple verse from Romans…there’s hope!
This simple verse reminds us of TWO things;
#1 = That GOD has the Power to Bring Something Good out of a Bad Situation. Because of how good GOD is, I don’t believe it’s fair to blame GOD for the bad situations we find ourselves in. I would point the finger of blame towards those not-so-cuddly characters–(sin, death, & evil). Friend, GOD is not the cause of the cr p you’re dealing with…but according to this verse…He is the cause of everything working out for the good.
#2 = All You Can Do…is LOVE God & REMEMBER Your Calling. Yup, that’s it. When the “you know what” hits the fan, all you can do is (1) KEEP LOVING GOD–(keep trusting Him & believing that He is greater than those not-so-cuddly characters of sin, death, & evil in your life)…and (2) KEEP REMEMBERING–(that you haven’t been called by GOD to live a life without cr p…you’ve been called by GOD to live a life that points others to Him).
So friend, it’s ok to be sad & discouraged about things not working out the way you wanted them to…but don’t let your sadness & discouragement distract you from GOD’s character & the calling He has placed on your life. You can be confident that GOD will cause something good to come out of this…all you can do…is (1) keep LOVING Him in the midst of it, and (2) keep REMEMBERING Your Calling. Peace!
